Cheapest Domain Name Price on 1&1 Internet: $0.99 .INFO domain names

Even though (at the time of writing), 1&1 Internet is only the 6th largest domain name registrar in the world, we like them a lot more than we like GoDaddy (the #1 registrar in the world). 

1&1 Internet‘s best deal right now is $0.99 for a .INFO domain name. Even though you can get a domain name for less than a dollar, remember that after the first year is up, the price returns to the regular price, which in 1&1 Internet‘s case is $8.99 per domain name per year. So you might want to think twice about going out and buying 20 domains at a buck a domain, only to find out that it’ll cost you $180 per year to keep all 20 domains next year.

$0.99 for a .INFO domain name is pretty good, although GoDaddy currently has their .INFO domains on sale for slightly less ($0.89). So why do we like 1&1 Internet a little better?

There are 2 big reasons why right now 1&1 Internet is our favourite pick.

1. If you’re looking to buy .COM domains, 1&1 Internet is cheaper than GoDaddy. 1&1 Internet‘s regular price for a .COM domain name is $8.99 (per domain name per year) which is one of the cheapest rates around. (Compare that with GoDaddy’s regular price for .COM domains is $11.44)
2. 1&1 Internet is one of the few internet domain registrars that offers free privacy registration. (If you’re not sure why you should want domain name registration privacy, read this post.) GoDaddy offers “free” privacy for the first year (if you buy several domains), but you’ll have to pay their regular price of $8.99 per year for every domain name you want to keep private.

Although we have a few domains with GoDaddy, most of our domain names are with 1&1 Internet. (We buy our Canadian domain names elsewhere because 1&1 Internet doesn’t sell them yet.)

Keep an eye on their domain prices. Last year, they were offering .COM domain names for $6.99 per domain per year (for the first year), so they do offer some specials.
